The VSU Small Farm Marketing and Business Program works directly with Virginia Cooperative Extension county-based field agents and the Virginia State University Small Farm Outreach Program to provide science based educational curriculum on critical marketing and business issues facing small farm operations across the state of Virginia.

Step 1: Schedule an office or farm visit to determine your small farm marketing and business educational needs by contacting your local Virginia Cooperative Extension office, Agricultural and Natural Sciences (ANR) county agent: Find them at:


NOTE: If you are a beginning farmer, beginning rancher (in operation less than 10 years), African American, Native American, Asian American, Hispanic, Pacific Islander, Alaskan Native, or a woman, the VSU Small Farm Outreach offers one-on-one technical assistance and outreach in 44 counties in Virginia. Step 2: If you and your field agent or the Director of the VSU Small Farm Outreach and Technical Assistance Program, after the first meeting agree that you need specific additional educational assistance in small farm marketing and business, request your county agent to contact Theresa Nartea, Extension Specialist at (804) 524-5491 or for direct VCE field office technical assistance.
