Family and Consumer Sciences Education Concentration

This program concentration focuses on preparing students for careers as teachers, specifically in the middle and high school setting. At the secondary school level, Family and Consumer Sciences provide opportunities for students to develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviors needed for work and family life.  Programs of study at the secondary level include the following: fashion; child development; housing and interior design; culinary arts; nutrition and wellness; family relations; health; financial management; and human services. All programs fall under the umbrella of Career and Technical Studies which means they are career and workforce driven.

The Family and Consumer Sciences Education program is accredited by the Department of Education for the state of Virginia and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education Programs.
